Objective of the Course
To cater to the needs of the Survey Department in the training of it's Cartographic, Remote Sensing,
Photogrammetric , Aerial Photographer and Laboratory Technicians.

Entry Qualification
Recruits to the Survey Department under normal Government Policies with the requirements of Sri Lanka
Technological Service (SLTS).
Assessment of the course
Written examinations are conducted at the end of each quarter for all the subjects taught during the
quarter in addition to assignments, tutorials and practical examinations
. Normal passes and honours are based on the cumulative Point Hour Ratio as given below.
Pass :Minimum Cumulative Point Hour Ratio of 2.00
Second Class Honours: Minimum Cumulative Point Hour Ratio of 2.750 or above and students should
have passed all the subjects at regular examination
First Class Honours : Minimum Cumulative Point Hour Ratio of 3.250 or above and students should
have passed all the subjects at regular examination
Content (in brief)
Basic Surveying and Levelling, Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing, Physics, Mathematics, Computer
Programming and Applications, English, Cartography, Draughtsmanship, Departmental Orders

One year in-house training in theoretical and practical aspects, and one year on the job training
